As we enter a new year I would be interested in learning what lawyers are hearing from their clients about proposing alternative fee arrangements that are not based on an hourly fee. This seems to be a popular theme with many companies that are trying to reduce costs in general, and legal costs in particular. Are any of your clients making concrete proposals to you for alternate fee arrangments or are they relying on you to come up with various types of agreements? If you have had success in relationships with clients using alternate fee deals that would be very interesting to know. Thanks. Skip McCowan, Gordon & Ree LLP.
